NMT Food Pantry
Hunger rates in New Mexico surpass the national average, with 1 in 7 individuals facing unreliable access to food. The situation is even more alarming in Socorro County, where 1 in 5 residents experience food insecurity. This includes students at New Mexico Tech.
The New Mexico Tech Food Pantry plays a vital role in addressing food insecurity amoung the NMT student community.
Food Insecurity is defined by the U. S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) as “limited or uncertain availability of nutritionally adequate and safe foods, or a limited or uncertain ability to acquire acceptable foods in socially acceptable ways.”
For NMT, the Food Pantry steps into the gap, providing food assistance to meet the need of our students.
